I participated in the 15th french Iron Chef. An Iron Chef is a competition for AMV makers where participants are given a song that they have to work with for a limited time. French Iron Chef is usually 24 hours. Judges are in charge of deciding on the winner who then has to organize the next Iron Chef.
I participated in 2 other Iron Chef in the past but this one was special because unlike previous editions, it was organized IRL with all participants gathered in the same room, filmed and broadcasted live!
It was organized by Pioupiou who managed to convince editors such as Atvaark, Kragdrim, Tyler, R_1 and me to participate. When I accepted, I made her promise me that she would choose an interesting song to work with, something upbeat with rhythm that would fit a dynamic / fun AMV… yeah, fat chance! When she revealed the song to us (Nat King Cole – Quizas, Quizas, Quizas), we thought it was a joke and started laughing but we quickly realized that it was serious. I was seriously thinking about packing my stuff and giving up but I remembered that we agreed with Pioupiou that if I didn’t like the song, I could just pick an other one from my playlist and since everybody was there, the live stream was up and other editors were in the same situation as me, I couldn’t really just leave.
I contacted Tyler who was 5 meters away by instant message and proposed that we work with Deck The House by Akufen. He agreed and we both started to prepare the audio mix. I also tried to convince Atvaark, Kragdrim and R_1 to do the same but they wanted to try to edit with the chosen song.
It was an interesting and fun experience overall, I managed to complete my video within 11 hours while chatting with others and playing Wipeout on my PSP and I’m satisfied with my ranking as I was aiming for either first or last.

I prepared a lot of new cool footage hoping I could use them on a nice song as promised by Pioupiou.
But after completing my audio mix, I decided to just make a megamix of my previous AMVs (including unreleased projects) and add some HypnoToad all over it.
I think it worked well.
